In Rajasthan, our 24 Primary Health Centers and Sub centers continue to provide services to the rural and urban population without interruption. We procured proper PPEs for the frontline workers, enabling uninterrupted OPD services and COVID-19 counseling, as well as segregating and isolating any suspected and confirmed cases.

WISH has been actively engaged in:

• Establishing control rooms for strategizing & overseeing COVID mitigation measures
• Capacity building of health workers: Over 430 (four hundred thirty) healthcare providers are trained through digital platforms on COVID-19 guidelines, Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) and social distancing norms.
• Surveillance & Contact Tracing: Of the 3.7 million members surveyed through home visits over 16,082 cases were found to have ILI symptoms where 0.129 million were high-risk cases.
• Digital Health Initiative: Consults and diagnostic conducted through telemedicine/POCDs: 0.1 million consults were undertaken, 45,102 screening for COVID of whom 538 OPD patients had COVID symptoms.

In Assam, support is being provided through our digital Health & Wellness Centers in the urban areas where we operate. Currently, we have provided virtual training to frontline workers both in Kamrup metro and in the 24 tea-estate PHCs where we partner. Customized virtual training continues to be provided to all frontline workers on a rolling basis using the Microsoft Team platform. These training sessions are also recorded and shared with the participants for their future reference.

In addition:

• WISH has fast-tracked the use of technology for outreach services to evade home visit amid COVID-19 and scaled up activities in all 20 tea gardens of capacity the building of service providers, containment strategy rolls out and setting off isolation wards in APPL’s tea garden hospitals
• Capacity building: 605 (six hundred five) Health workers and community leaders across the facility of Kamrup metro and tea estates incapacitated
• Preparation of isolation ward in Smart clinic of tea estates including RHRC Chabua
• Out of the 22,701 OPD patients screened, 1,288 people were found to have flu-like symptoms they were advised and counselled as per guidelines.

In Madhya Pradesh, as the advisory body to the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, our Technical Support Unit (TSU) has worked hand-in-hand with the state government in the COVID-19 response from the beginning. Ways in which we are supporting the Health Ministry are:

Three of our public-health team members in M.P. got infected due to close interaction with government health officials who were found positive. Staff were immediately quarantined at the local hospital, and fortunately, have recovered and been released a few days ago.

In addition:

• 500,000 Tele-Medicine calls in 51 districts were handled between April 1 to July 20 and a total of 140,000 Home-quarantined people were reached by phone for follow-up consultations.
• WISH provided support to establish and operationalize E-Sanjeevani OPD for Non-COVID patients/cases. 75 doctors of 51 districts got trained on the entire module of E-Sanjeevani.
• 500 (five hundred) consultations were achieved between May 2, 2020 to July 20,2020
• A total of 8,097 pregnant women were counselled through Tele-calling in the COVID affected districts/areas between June 10 to July 20, 2020. Out of the total, 4,020 were found high risk HRPW WISH team reached them with COVID protection information and messages
• WISH facilitated case discussion of COVID death with comorbidities with support of the State Expert Committee that includes faculty from AIIMS, GMC Bhopal, and WISH along with NCD division. A similar expert committee meeting was also facilitated with the Maternal Health division.
• Online training and webinars were facilitated and till June 2020, more than 1,450 participants, which included district, block, and sub-block-level staff, have undergone various COVID and Non-COVID training.

• A total of 20 government doctors and 238 (two hundred thirty eight) health personnel, including paramedics, were trained. A total of 78 private sector health service providers (8 Specialist Doctors 10 Pharmacists, 3 Lab Technicians, and 57 Paramedics) were trained in 5 batches in July.
• Distribution of training material and IEC - Pocket booklet (4,000), posters (4,000), flyers (5,000), stickers and WhatsApp messages (6) highlighting the five steps of prevention to bring symptom awareness and encourage timely access to the designated developed health facility as part of social behaviour change communication for services providers and the community.
• WISH provided triple-layer medical mask (10,000), latex examination gloves (10,000), hand sanitizer bottles (5,000), N-95 masks (2,000), goggles (2,000), face shield (2,000) and a full complement of PPE 1,500 (including foot cover, a gown of 80-100 GSM, head cap, N-95 mask, goggle, Gloves) to UPHCs, District Hospital, and Mahila Aspatal.
• Active surveillance by Community Mobilisers-The team facilitated 2,500 home visits for quarantine and contact tracing across 23 UPHCs. Out of a total of 343 (three hundred forty three) cases, 89 active cases and a total of 241 (two hundred forty one) cases got discharged and 13 deaths recorded as on June 30, 2020.

WISH has prioritized COVID-19 related capacity-building trainings for the primary healthcare sector. Till date we have conducted trainings for over 1300 healthcare workers, including front line workers, GNMs and medical officers at WISH-operated, as well as government-operated facilities in the states of Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. We will soon be launching self-learning modules for various categories of healthcare workers to continually enhance the capacity of health professionals.

WISH in India will continue supporting the governments of Rajasthan, Delhi, Assam MP and UP in their COVID containment and mitigation measures, by:

• Setting up and the smooth functioning of COVID control rooms
• Overseeing the effective execution of geographic quarantine efforts
• Overseeing social distancing measures in community and adoption of hygiene practices
• Supporting community surveillance activity
• Conducting screening and facilitating testing of suspected cases per new testing guidelines from ICMR including point of care tests.
• Setting up the isolation ward at our health facilities in accordance with GOI guidelines
• Ensuring isolation, management and home quarantine of infected persons
• Facilitating telemedicine units
• Capacity building of health service providers amid evolving changing guidelines with the rollout of self-training modules for health care providers.
• Provision of PPE kits to health service providers and frontline health workers
• Community awareness and communication activities
• Digitization of healthcare facilities
• Any other support requested by the respective state governments
